The 2019 Beijing International Trade in Services Center
Co-hosted by the Ministry of Commerce of the People's Republic of China and the People's Government of Beijing Municipality, the China (Beijing) International Fair for Trade in Services (hereinafter referred to as CIFTIS) has been successfully held for five sessions since 2012. CIFTIS has three permanent supporting institutions, namely the World Trade Organization, United Nations Conference on Trade and Development, and Organisation for Economic Co-operation and Development. Since 2019, CIFTIS has been approved to officially change its name into China International Fair for Trade in Services and will be held every year.
I. Overview of CIFTIS
CIFTIS serves as an important platform for China to further advance the opening-up and promote international exchange and cooperation in trade in services. The leaders of the State Council have participated in various activities of each session. For example, they delivered keynote speeches, visited the exhibition and met important guests at the Global Trade in Services Summit. As the permanent supporting institutions of CIFTIS, three international organizations have held the Global Trade in Services Summit jointly with the Organizing Committee in turn. The summit has invited relevant state dignitaries, heads of international organizations and foreign chambers and associations, respected experts, heads of transnational corporations and other famous professionals in political and commercial circles, to gather consensus on the development of trade in services. Since five sessions, the fair has attracted 79 countries and regions to hold exhibitions and conferences in groups, and nearly 200 international organizations and chambers and associations have participated in the exhibitions and conferences in groups, with an accumulative customer number of 646,000 and an accumulative intentional turnover of $424.27 billion. It has become an important platform for various countries to strengthen policy communication in the service sector, and for outstanding enterprises to showcase and promote service innovations and hold cooperation talks.
II. Introduction to the 2019 CIFTIS
The 2019 CIFTIS will be held on May 28-June 1 under the theme of "Opening-up, Innovation, Intelligence and Integration". The halls are set in the principle of “one home field with breakout venues" including one main event accompanying nine to ten sub sessions. Its exhibition and display area will reach 130,000 square meters, and more than 100 forums and meetings as well as over 100 promotion and negotiation activities will be organized.
In terms of meeting arrangements, the Organizing Committee of CIFTIS and the OECD will jointly hold the Global Trade in Services Summit on the morning of May 28. The summit proposes to invite Chinese leaders to deliver the keynote speech and gather famous professionals in political and commercial circles at home and abroad. The fair will invite the international organizations including the World Trade Organization (WTO) and the World Intellectual Property Organization (WIPO), and relevant international chambers and associations to hold international forums; It will invite relevant chambers and associations in China to hold industry conferences, on which they will discuss new trends and new changes in the industry development and release industry authoritative information. Moreover, the industry associations, professional organizations and well-known enterprises will be invited to hold industry promotion meetings, release the demands and organize special talks as well as project matchmaking activities. The 2019 CIFTIS will also solicit and release the latest technology application results in 100 service fields, organize the selection of 100 demonstration cases for outstanding innovation services and hold negotiation meetings for trade visitors and buyers.
In terms of exhibition and display, the fair will set the result exhibition zones themed on the national free trade pilot zone, innovation and development pilot of trade in services, cultural export base, service outsourcing, etc. It will invite the countries along the "Belt and Road", the world's top 30 countries and regions in terms of service and trade and 14 countries that have entered into service trade agreements with China to set international exhibition zones. The exhibition zones of new services, new models and new business patterns will be set around such topics as technology innovation, artificial intelligence, smart life, cultural creativity and e-commerce.
III. Policy for delegations
(i) Exhibition and display
The Organizing Committee will provide raw space in the international exhibition zone (the main exhibition venue of China National Convention Center) free of charge for building up national, regional and corporate exhibition zones. It will provide the exhibition zone of no less than 370 square meters for the guest country, that of no less than 90 square meters for the country of honor, no less than 60square meters for other countries and regions, and no less than 36square meters for famous enterprises participating in the exhibition separately.
(ii) Thematic activities
The Organizing Committee will provide conference negotiation venues and related supporting facilities for free and assist the guest invitation.
(iii)The guaranteed Services
The Organizing Committee will provide high-quality exhibition and conference services for delegations through strengthening media publicity and facilitating customs clearance.
(iv) Deadline.
The intention and contents regarding the guest invitation and participation matters mentioned above shall be confirmed by April 18, 2019.
